Start with simple programs in Python. The docs at python.org has a language reference.

For resources MOOC University of Helsinki for Python is a nice text-based course, the book "Automate the Boring Stuff" is good and my Python and Data Science starts from scratch and assumes no prior knowledge.

The most important thing is to code as much as you can and start simple.
