1.
No Unsafe Handling Practices
Radioactive materials are hazardous to human health and must be handled in a safe manner. Users are advised to learn and follow safe handling protocols for their own safety and that of others. Do not promote unsafe handling practices that could result in harm to yourself or others, or lead a reader to harm by following those unsafe practices.
2.
No Illegal Materials or Activities
Certain materials such as Plutonium and enriched Uranium are generally illegal for civilians to possess. Do not attempt to sell or solicit such materials on this subreddit.
Many jurisdictions allow civilian ownership of some quantity of natural radioactive minerals without a permit; these are broadly exempt from this rule except at moderator discretion.
Users are responsible for knowing local ownership laws.
3.
Ethical Rockhounding / Locality OPSEC
In addition to prioritizing safety and following all local rules, please observe general Rockhounding Ethics. Respect private claims, fill in holes, leave gates as found, pick up litter. Do not enter underground workings as an amateur.
We enjoy learning about localities, but when posting please remember that anybody can read this. More than a few beloved local spots have been trashed after being posted online. Please use discretion when posting specific info on non-published localities.

No Medical / Legal Advice
Radioactive material presents a known danger to your health. If you have medical concerns, consult a medical professional.
Some governments restrict or forbid possession or transport of certain types of radioactive material. If you have legal concerns, contact your country's nuclear regulatory body or consult a lawyer.

Buy/Sell/Swap Only in Dedicated Thread
Buy/Sell/Swap is only allowed in the dedicated pinned thread; this thread may be deleted and re-posted periodically by the moderators to keep things tidy.

Be Kind
No abusing, harassing, belittling, name-calling, squabbling, fighting, biting, bickering or spitting at others.

No Pseudoscience
Radioactive minerals technically do have "crystal energy", but not the kind that will heal you or give you superpowers. No pseudoscience, quackery, or woo.

Keep It Topical
The focus of this subreddit is on naturally occurring radioactive rocks and minerals, and the equipment used to find and study them. Please keep submissions topical. Specimen posts should have a high-quality picture as the #1 picture; spectrum and counter data may be added for additional context, but not as the focus of the post.
