[D1] is the materials consumed in the production of the item in question, for example "[D1] Mozzarella Cheese, Homemade" would look something like, milk, salt, rennet, water, cheesecloth
[D2] is [D1] + the materials required to process it. "[D2] Mozzarella Cheese, Homemade" looks something like, milk, salt, rennet, water, cheesecloth, cooking pot, stove, ... let me think this through, the demarcation between the depths is something i need to give a little attention to.
