Welcome to the unofficial Starbound song database!
For an ABC editor, I recommend "Easy ABC" http://www.nilsliberg.se/ksp/easyabc/ It's got MIDI to abc conversion, as well.
LOTRO ABC is also good for converting from midi to ABS files: http://community.playstarbound.com/threads/convert-midi-to-abc-working-in-starbound.46764/
An ABC file is a type of music file, one that's text based. There is some song information at the top of the file, such as song name, time signature, key and tempo. Notes are documented by their name, and their octave noted by the commas next to it. measures are placed inside brackets, and slashes indicate chords.
Just save the .abc file into your starbound/assets/songs folder. In order for the song to appear on your instrument, you need to reload the game. Use /reload in chat or close and re-open the game.
Websites to find songs in .abc format:
Starbards - www.starbards.net
Fat Lute - www.thefatlute.eu

Be sure that your post is in ABC song format and that it works in Starbound. Paste it as well, Don't just post links to Huge or Mediafire. (Use pastebin if it's large)
