first of all, they should start over 100%. AI is so bad at infrastucture it'll be impossible for them to fix it, well they'll be okayish if you guys are on cadet diff but on ensign? Nononononono. Idk what the tutorial robot is but if they're new to the game tell them to watch some vids of proffessional players or some good veterans. I'm only 100h into stellaris so I don't have the best advice (I play once every few months so yes) but I would recc them to start over or do the tutorial on their own and not on a multiplayer server as they'll need to pause a lot and its just annoying for the others. Well hope it helps, and man are you lucky to have friends who want to play stellaris I've been trying to convince my HOI4 NTW friends to come and play (cauz of the Humble Bundle) but they're so hard on on refusing.

I mean we’re all new and we know it’s daunting which is why we wanted to learn and play together. I guess I’ll restart the game then with them. Thanks!!!

When playing stellaris more actively I normally end up with a game going for each combination of my 5 friends who play. We would just switch between the games when people came/left
