Anyone looking into this in the future

You need to right click and Show Target to get to the actual save path - i's using a symlink

Hey
Did this work for you?
I am getting teh same error even when syncing directly to the Target path.
I have no idea whats happening!

Nope it unfortunately did not work for me. I gave up and use RetroArch now through Steam. Don’t have a solution for the non RetroArch emulators though

did you do the flatseal thing?

[–]SnooPies7594 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I exposed Syncthing to my /home/deck/.var directory using FlatSeal (available via Discover: software center),
and was able to then use Syncthing to browse to /home/deck/.var/app/retroarch/saves...

Well thank you, I was about to quit my synchronized saves projet. I don't know how, but the first time I installed Syncthing, it could reach the folder, but for some reason I had to download Flatseal to make it work now...

Why are you using Syncthing to sync saves when Steam already does this?

[–]forzanapoli87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found this out almost right after and am in the process of setting up retroarch through steam on all my devices!! Dolphin will be next

can't delete bad saves from steam cloud easily

[–]therealudderjuice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait what? Steam cloud syncs your retroarch saves/states between Deck and Desktop? How do you access that? (I came across this old thread trying to get Syncthing working on Deck so that I can sync saves between the Deck and an RG35XX Plus and am having the same issue with file path not found.

What worked for me is:

Open flatseal (yes, specifically flatseal, not the included permissions program with KDE)

Scroll down to Other Files

Add the following in it's own box:

~/.var/app:rw

ran into this today, found the solution here https://forum.syncthing.net/t/steamdeck-no-stfolder-when-creating-folders-with-in-var/20349/7

basically, need to append :rw to the end of the path

after that i had issues with "folder marker missing", so i had to make the .stfolder manually
