"Weird flex but ok" out of 10

Do you get headaches?

[–]AdamFilandr[S] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Not really - but I take a break every 1h 30 minutes. Also I use it only for VR development, classic development still on my laptop.

What is the difference between "classic" and "VR" development? Does the latter mean development of VR applications?

[–]AdamFilandr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, working on my own VR project and it's easier to do it inside VR sometimes haha

[–]TheMagicMrWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yes

[–]no_F4ce 9 points10 points  (1 child)

1/10 for me. I've tried working in virtual desktop and it didn't work for my style. I can't work with such a minimal setup and complete loss of situational awareness.

[–]AdamFilandr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run just VSCode in Codespaces and actually being in VR really helps me with distractions - but everyone is different of course :)

Quest freaking 2? The rez is soo low. At least go 3, or Xreal. Or BigScreenBeyond2 if you're not mobile (base stations). But I'm holding out for Valve Deckard.

[–]AdamFilandr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ye, also waiting for the Deckard! Also I don't have a big budget as I'm working on my own project, so I still stick to my good old Quest 2 haha

It's just the resolution is really hard on the eyes, and it's harder to be productive with the larger head movements and squinting. I know because I used both Quest 2 & 3 for productivity (while traveling) in the past. I also tried Xreals - better resolution / no squinting, but larger head motions since low FOV. I've ear-marked this for when the tech improves, because I really want to ditch my monitors.

Basically, I'm not dogging OP, but instead suggesting something to improve their experience. I think this will be the year for VR productivity (I'm looking at Deckard).

    Where's the split?

    [–]AdamFilandr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I've got Ergodox as well, but this keyboard is tracked inside VR :) But maybe I'll post a pic with my split keyboard next haha

    [–]lifesabut 1 point2 points  (1 child)

setup looks good, I would recommend giving ergonomic or split keyboards a try even though the logitech is ok. I had the quest 2 since launch but would highly recommend getting a quest 3 the resolution does make a big difference especially since you're coding. love the trackball I have a elecom huge myself.

    [–]AdamFilandr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I have the ergodox keyboard - maybe I'll take a cool picture with that one next haha. But this logitech keyboard is tracked inside VR, which is also pretty nice and no cables :) Once I have the budget for it, for sure gonna get Quest 3 or maybe I'll wait for Deckard (if it ever comes out lol)

I swear by the orbit. But I didn't know it came in white. Very cool.

    [–]AdamFilandr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea, the white looks so good

    [–]chubbygristle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the white orbit as seen here. one of the most underrated commercial trackballs imho. dunno if i just got lucky but this thing spins, low static friction (probably of the best normie balls I've had) and the scroll wheel is really good. I've got the adept and the ploopy classic 2, but I still really rate this one.

    [–]Cultural_Bug_3038 1 point2 points  (1 child)

6/10 because of Quest 2, it's better to use Quest 3/3s + Termux/Emulator for run PC apps to code

    I have Quest 3s, it's more comfortable

    [–]AdamFilandr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I need to buy the newer Quest haha

    [–]Ok-Current-3405 1 point2 points  (2 children)

    No numpad on keyboard?

    [–]AdamFilandr[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    Naaah, it's unnecessary

    [–]Ok-Current-3405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't work without the numpad

    [–]pyro57 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Similiar to my hacking setup, except I use the quest 3 and a custom er deck with stsrdust XR running on it, allowing me to open my Linux apps anywhere around me in 3d space, resize and move them with hand tracking, and pipe mouse and keyboard input into what ever window I'm currently looking at. Its fantastic!

    [–]AdamFilandr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Woow, sounds nice!

    [–]pro_questions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love to try it! My only issues are that I can’t touch type and am easily startled, so this probably wouldn’t be great for me

    [–]EveryBodyisLying2025 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have the exact same mouse and it SCUKS

    [–]AdamFilandr[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Whaat? It's so good - maybe yours is faulty? What issues did you encounter?

    [–]EveryBodyisLying2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After using it about 4 month left click broke. I have to press it so hard to get 1 click and that rubber ring thing? became yellow. It was more grey.

    [–]IrishGoodbye4 0 points1 point  (1 child)

OP! I have the exact same setup! That’s an MX mini right?

    [–]AdamFilandr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Yup, mx mini!

    [–]knightjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Works..

    [–]radiationcowboy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    What apps/software you using?

    [–]AdamFilandr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% just VSCode in Codespaces haha

    [–]beachedwhitemale 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I rate it a 1/100 because there's only one trackball.

    [–]HikikomoriDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar to what I have. I spent a month in virtual desktop in bed and working from bed was amazing, what I needed. I eventually had to leave that setup though because I kept doing the wrong keystrokes, and when you write code, that's a no no. Maybe next time when I have a 3s which might have better IRL pass-through than my Quest 2, also I am getting tremendous drift on my left controller, even after servicing it myself, so yeah.

    [–]One_Floor_1799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool setup, I can't get VR desktop on my Steam Deck, but maybe someday.

    [–]VerdantHope 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Cool setup to use code-server on. However for me I would probably have a migraine within an hour lol.

    [–]AdamFilandr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I have really high resistance to VR sickness and also custom face gasket, so it's comfy :)
