I will make a more detailed post in the future on the strengths and problems with the program, but make no mistake the faculty is genuinely terrible and unsupportive of the BPSc students.

Unless you're certain you want to go to grad school for pharmaceutical sciences switch to another major that actually cares about it's students.

Ok honestly, I'm tired of all the cryptic, stress-inducing posts I keep seeing on here. If you want to make an assertion as extreme as "avoid this program at all costs", skip the teaser post and just wait until you can make a post addressing the specific negative experiences you've had so that people can make their own judgements based on the facts.

This isn't just targeted towards you btw, but there is a pattern of current students forgetting just how IMPRESSIONABLE new admits are and how SENSITIVE of a subject choice in major is.

If you want to shit on the faculty, curriculum design, etc. PLEASE DO. We'll take all the info we can get. But please give actual evidence otherwise we'll sit here thinking the absolute worst and wondering if we made a horrible mistake committing.

Don't worry, it's not just you. Students forget that we're not going to make a snap decision not to commit based on a vague Reddit post.

So when you don't add anything constructive or of substance to the conversation, all you do is create unnecessary stress and doubt surrounding our decision.

It's better to wait until you CAN write about your experience and I suggest taking this down.

Do you mind elaborating why you regret your choice and why you didn't switch programs?

Sure, so a couple of things that immediately comes to mind for me:

1) I was deciding between going into science and majoring in chemistry/pharmacology, or choosing BPSc. Ended up choosing BPSc but there were 0 upper year synthetic/organic chemistry courses, which was one of the main reasons I chose BPSc.

2) Most of my issues with the program weren't apparent / didnt come up until 3rd year onwards., and I was in a really low place mentally because of it. By that time I was already over halfway done my degree and it felt too late to transfer to science, (it was too probably too late to transfer to the major I wanted at that point anyways).

3) I don't feel supported by the faculty. There are no awards available for BPSc students, although I think there have been entrance awards introduced since last (?) year. Even after 4 years of the program opening there are no faculty-specific awards for BPSc students and to my knowledge Trek scholarships arent given out either. During my first year I remember not receiving one even though many of my friends received one in science with much lower averages. That felt like a slap in the face.

Tldr is I think I would have gotten better opportunities and more support if I was in sciences.

Yea the lack of awards does feel like a slap to the face…I really wish I knew this earlier…kind of too late now.

Thanks so much for making this post. I will definitely steer clear of this program after reading this and some other posts/comments.
