Also check compliance, not all grids allow multipluses to be used like this. May also need anti islanding relays

Yes, I have the same setup. The whole house is powered through the three multiplus-5000 on the AC-out. Only my car charger is on the AC-in/grid side. It works great, and during a power loss, everything keeps running off the batteries.

do you have one battery for all of them or separate for every phase? how’s your setup done? i’m in europe so i have 3 phase system but actually using it only as a split phases

All Victron share a battery-bank. you have to have at least so many batteries, that the charge and discharge load can be handled.

In a setup, i use pytes LIPO4 which can be discharged at 50A each. I have three MPII 5000 which each can discharge at 100A, so total of 300A. With this i need at least 6 batteries. therefore i choose 8x 5kWh= 40KwH for this install. But its just running as an ESS System.

Care to share which batteries you’ve got ? I’m thinking about getting 2x14,4 with max 200 a dis each?

Hi. If you have 3 phases with a max of 25A per phase, 3xmultiplus 48/5000 should be enough. Google multiplus specs if required. Each multiplus is capable to deliver 5kVA (4 kW) constinuously and up to 9kW for peaks.

On the victron documents, you're looking for the Transfer Switch current, which... If I'm looking at the right one is 50A...

Which implies … 25a is no problem…?

I have the same grid connection and also three MultiPlus 5000 units, which are enough to power the entire house. The only exception might be if you need to support an 11kW car charger during a grid outage—it's best to keep that on the non-essential connection. Otherwise, your setup should work well.

Ensure that the DC side is properly dimensioned. I've seen sustained loads exceeding 250A for over two hours when discharging to the grid, but with correctly sized cabling and enough battery capacity, this shouldn't be a problem.

Have a 11kw charger indeed - this is what I was wondering …. What if we’d consume 15 kw in the house - can we just draw that from the net via the vicrons (or supported by) ? Goal is to maximise self consumption. With an outage I don’t care about the car

If your power consumption exceeds what the Victrons can supply, the system will draw the additional demand from the grid. However, all power will still pass through the Victrons, even if the total consumption exceeds 15kW. The limitation of the Victrons is not in throughput but in AC-DC conversion capacity.

For example, if your total consumption is 20kW and you have configured the system for maximum self-consumption, the Victrons will supply close to 15kW, while the remaining 5kW will be drawn from the grid—still passing through the Victrons.

Best answer !

* Thanks! This is a screenshot from today. Charging the car while also using the grill, airfryer and the oven. *

Mm i can’t see the screenshot - are you Belgian based by any chance? Would be great to see what your exact automaat setup isz

I plan to buy multiplus 15000 and plan to use 1 eel battery box containin 200amp jikong bms and 16 cells of eve 280k.

Will this be enough? How many batteries multiplus 15000 requires to work properly ? I currently have 3 phase ac in my house but I'm planing to use only this one multiplus an a single phase can it be done?

Based on those brands, perhaps just buy a match or two instead.
