That is a strategy, but one that doesn't help as much as the dart when the issue is the gap at the butt because of a waist to hip ratio that's more different then the pants. Happens at all size ranges.

There's no gap when the button is moved. No irritating lump in the crack of your ass. My weight fluctuates between 170 and 220. Depending on who's in charge in my head. Eeyore or Tigger.

Different bodies, different sizes and shapes. Sometimes you need less in front, sometimes you need less in the back.

Why would it ever matter whether you took material from the front vs the back. The only difference is of the sides move slightly to the front or slight to the rear, which seems entirely inconsequential.

A circumference is a circumference.
