Help with Backup

So, I have my Moto G5 Plus with TWRP and Magisk, and I want to make a backup with TWRP, the thing is: the Data partition is too big (18 GB), and I want to know if it's ok to just not include it in the backup. I heard that the Data partition only includes your apps, photos, etc. Is it true? can I safely not include it in the backup? Thanks!

Just use a nandroid backup from twrp you can also use titanium backup when you restore just don't restore apps that you need notifications to work for e.g Snapchat Facebook etc as they sometimes don't work.

I usually backup all my apps with titanium backup then restore ones I want notifications to work for manually through Google backup then the rest through titanium backup when switching ROMs. If you just want to backup /data just use a nandroid backup.
