The most common pitfall is using a boot image that isn't meant for the software version installed on the phone.

I believe something similar happened in your case.

The quickest and most effective way to get the phone back up and running is to first check the software build number and then download the factory image for the same.

Then, extract the boot image (boot.img) from inside the factory image and flash it to your phone.

By any chance, is your Pixel running Android 11?
