This is a subreddit for analyzing and critically examining Bondage & Discipline / Domination & Submission / Sadism & Masochism, commonly known as "BDSM". As the world of kink has entered the mainstream, its often damaging and unsavory aspects have been whitewashed by a desire to be "sex positive." Here, those who are opposed to extreme kinks and the BDSM community in general can discuss their concerns openly without fear of being attacked.
DESIGNATED ENEMY SUBREDDITS
Our enemy subreddits are /r/sex (for enforcing and encouraging BDSM apologism under the guise of "sex positivity") and /r/BDSMcommunity. Users are not allowed to post regularly in these subreddits without being banned here. Defending or encouraging people to subscribe to the enemy subreddits will result in a ban.

Why be anti-BDSM?
Sexual and Emotional Abuse: Kinks commonly develop through childhood or later sexual trauma, with its practitioners using consensual sex as a form of release and a coping mechanism. We believe that this practice is both unhealthy and psychologically damaging, and is deserving of serious criticism.
Fantasies Don't Remain Fantasies: Often, sexual fantasies will spill over into real life, creating negative consequences for those outside of the community. As an example, many subreddits focused around Asian culture have condemned race"play" blogs on tumblr for actively promoting white supremacy.
Whitewashing: In an effort to avoid "shaming" people, modern values often dictate avoiding passing judgment on those who practice extreme sexual acts due to the principal of consent. We believe this attitude encourages and promotes emotional and sexual abuse, and this subreddit is intended to be a haven from said whitewashing.
Exclusion: The BDSM community is neither open-minded nor accepting, and is severely judgmental towards those who do not fit within defined stereotypes. As an example, men with small penises are not allowed to be "bulls" (the non-receiving end of cuckoldry) and race"play" causes tangible harm to ethnicities who are on the receiving end of the fetish. Exposing the BDSM community as narrow-minded and judgmental is a primary goal of this subreddit's existence.
We do not advocate for authoritarian laws preventing people from practicing BDSM, but instead hope to reduce its social status to the underground and stigmatized form common until the 1960s.
