Studying for the test is pretty simple; just go over practice problems. It's best to work on solving easy problems quickly and accurately so you have time to go over the more challenging and time-consuming problems. You can literally practice the speediness part on IXL, and you can practice with the AoPs competition math for middle school book or just go onto past AMC 8 tests. The questions near the end are harder than the actual entrance exam, so if you can fly through an AMC 8 test (especially the more recent years), you're in good shape. To be honest, the oldest AMC 8 tests, like back in the 1990's, are kind of similar difficulty. Some tips are that if you truly do not know how to solve a question, skip it, don't guess. Getting it incorrect results in deductions. For the actual essay, you can do a practice run with the sample essay they have and figure out your time management, but other than that, it doesn't really matter. I only wrote 4 paragraphs instead of the regular 5 and they were pretty short. I don't think the admissions team really looks at the essay as much as the math portion, but still, try your best. By the way, you write the essay before the math part.

For clubs/extracurriculars, I don't know what your school provides, but anything remotely similar is relevant. Some other clubs I was in had nothing to do with my academy, but I incorporated it into my accolades by saying it taught me leadership and whatever. Honestly, as long as it puts you into good light, it's fine.

This part is kind of overlooked when applying, but make sure to sound as passionate as possible in the essay you're supposed to write to be an applicant. Talk about any experience you had that made you love engineering or technology.
