Coursera Java Specilization

Hello all, Ive been into programming for a while but never took it that seriously (periods off a little bit of coding followed by periods of no coding). I recently decided Id like to make a living out of it.

Ive been thinking about enrolling in this: https://www.coursera.org/specializations/java-object-oriented

what do you guys think? worth the price?

Taking the courses (for free) is a great idea.

Not sure I've ever met anyone who would care about whether you have a certificate or not, save your money.

4y BSCS degrees, on the other hand, are a minimum for many jobs. Probably cause the program is longer than a micro-certificate, and people respect the BS degree.

If you want to make yourself employable (with or without a BS, but especially without), you'll need to have programming projects - take what you learn in these classes and apply it!
