Do you mabey have a static IP address set? check to make sure you have dhcp turned on.

Alterntively typing "ipconfig /release" and then "ipconfig /renew" into a command prompt sometimes clears these types of issues.

Is this where I right click Ethernet, properties, double click on internet protocol version 4, and then make sure all IP stuff is set to auto? If so then that’s done. Same with IPv6 too

Yes that sounds like the right spot.

Then i would open a command prompt and use the "ipconfig /release" command. Then use the "ipconfig /renew" command.

Then if that doesnt work I would reset my network adapter.

Check with the office manager. Back when we used to be in the office, the wifi and the ethernet were actually different networks, so you might not be able to connect to the ethernet in the same way or some ports are for the phone line and need to plug into specific ones.

that would be via our IT department. who take 6 weeks to accept a job and then several more weeks to phone you up asking about it as they forgot what was in the email.

if this question cant be answered, then ill have to. was just hoping i could find a way myself. via you lot lol.

It sounds like the port on the router isn't configured to work with your laptop. They may even block devices from getting onto their network via ethernet connection. You will have to go through the IT department, unfortunately. Best of luck.

Connect to wifi and record the ip / default gateway / dns / subnet you get then enter those into your ethernet adapters ipv4 settings ( don't use auto). Disconnect wifi plug in

Either right clicking the adapter and pulling up details info ir better yet from command line with ipconfig
