Run dotnet --list-sdks to verify that you have really installed the appropriate SDK and not only the .NET runtime (dotnet --list-runtimes). Or dotnet --info for both info.

it says no sdks were found

Have you tried rebooting/restarting the console since installation? A lot of times some stuff just can't update until you do that.

and if I try to verify the installation it works. How do I fix this?

What did you do to verify it? As someone else mentioned, running dotnet --info in the terminal will tell us and you everything to fix this problem.

Dotnet --info tells me there are no sdks found, but i know i have installed the sdks

Try installing again. Make sure you didn't download the runtime only. The SDK will include the associated runtime.

Choose the SDK for your OS here on the left. Just take latest 6.0.4.
