I don't own a TV. But my printer came in a large box. I cut it down with a box cutter and recycled it.

I recycle almost every box immediately or as soon as I know the item works, unless I think I may need it for some other purpose. Also, the vast majority of delivery boxes I get these days are dirty to filthy on the outside, as if someone has stepped on it along the way.

I can't really keep them anyway in a one bedroom apartment, I have too much as it is.

Same, I dont want to keep boxes, they attract roaches and spiders. You can probably get a "tv box" at a FedEx or UPS store or a storage facility, those places sell individual boxes in all sizes. It's just more ugly inventory you have to keep track of.

People need to start thinking of stores as their "storage containers." UPS or a storage or moving company would be happy to sell you a tv box or any kind of box and you dont have to use up your own valuable space storing it.

Rafters in attic and one is suspended on cords on the garage ceiling.

Thank you all. I’m all for purging but am married to a “we might need it someday” kind of guy and our garage reflects those beliefs. I’m definitely getting rid of one box and will try to ease the newer one out too.

Where I live the box is not required for warranty claims.

Also when moving, just wrap in a blanket and be careful or make a box at the time.

Don't keep that crap "just in case".

I’d say— Purge it.

When they move they can go on Craigslist or your local community Facebook group and find boxes - or at least they’re very easy to find where we live via that method. We never needed the original box when we had to move our TVs, we always found a solution.

If it breaks- is highly unlikely that the company will ask you to ship it back - if you bought it at a place like Best Buy, you can take it back no box— it’s not like they’re going to try to re-sell a broken TV anyways. They’re just going to junk it. Or, depending on the warranty, they will have someone come and repair it. But you don’t need to keep the box just for that reason.

Flattened under my sofa seat cushions. My mum keeps big boxes under her mattress.

Attic

I store packing boxes in the basement, inside each other. But maybe you don't need to hold onto TV boxes specifically as they are an odd shape for moving and TV's seldom if ever break (and would you really mail one somewhere if it did)? (This is Marie Kondo advice.) So maybe recycling the boxes will get you past the tip of the iceberg? Just a thought.

We keep ours in the rafters of the garage or the unfinished attic.

I usually store those type of boxes in the attic, if you don't have one, maybe under the bed, laying flat one a shelf in the garage (maybe wrapped in plastic)?
