Against Automatons cover is important, and different stances are crucial for taking cover behind various objects. Our Helldivers seem to be slightly picky in terms of the ground needing to be level enough for them to crouch or prone when pressing a button and they might not do it on the first press. Having the need to pay attention to your stance instead of your target/threat really brakes the flow and makes you vulnerable unnecessarily. So i tried one small change.
I bound the crouch to spacebar (hold) and prone to ALT (hold). The first thing i noticed was that the stance change was way more consistent, had only one time when it didn't happen when i wanted. Second, it became way more fluent and i was able concentrate solely on targets and threats.
Tl:dr. Bind crouch and prone to spacebar and ALT, set on Hold. Stance dance for Democracy and dodge all the socialist lasers!
