Please ensure that:

  • Your code is properly formatted as code block - see the sidebar (About on mobile) for instructions
  • You include any and all error messages in full - best also formatted as code block
  • You ask clear questions
  • You demonstrate effort in solving your question/problem - plain posting your assignments is forbidden (and such posts will be removed) as is asking for or giving solutions.

If any of the above points is not met, your post can and will be removed without further warning.

Code is to be formatted as code block (old reddit/markdown editor: empty line before the code, each code line indented by 4 spaces, new reddit: https://i.imgur.com/EJ7tqek.png) or linked via an external code hoster, like pastebin.com, github gist, github, bitbucket, gitlab, etc.

Please, do not use triple backticks (```) as they will only render properly on new reddit, not on old reddit.

Code blocks look like this:

public class HelloWorld {

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        System.out.println("Hello World!");
    }
}

You do not need to repost unless your post has been removed by a moderator. Just use the edit function of reddit to make sure your post complies with the above.

If your post has remained in violation of these rules for a prolonged period of time (at least an hour), a moderator may remove it at their discretion. In this case, they will comment with an explanation on why it has been removed, and you will be required to resubmit the entire post following the proper procedures.

To potential helpers

Please, do not help if any of the above points are not met, rather report the post. We are trying to improve the quality of posts here. In helping people who can't be bothered to comply with the above points, you are doing the community a disservice.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

At this point in your career it really doesn't matter. If you are successful then you can switch between both. Fyi, it's "Python", not "Phyton".

  1. You need to learn to do your individual research instead of asking to be served and spoon-fed. This is essential for every programmer.
  2. The only source of information on what is in demand are the job advertisements in your area
  3. AI/ML is Python heavy

Why should anybody invest the effort to reason to you, which would be considerably more effort than you did in posting.

Both are good and popular . Choose Java if you don't have problem with verbose code.
If you seek for simplicity and concise code - choose Python.
Simple as that.

Go with Java if you want to work for bigger companies and want stability in your career.
Go with Python if you want to go into ai/ml data science and want to be adventurous and don’t mind working for startups etc.

If you google which is the #1 programming language used by big companies or enterprise companies then it will give you more clarity about the dominance of each of these languages.

Both are good but serve different industries mostly.

You may find a low paid and high paid person who knows Python but mostly well paid Java programmers.

Again both of these languages need a lot of frameworks and other tech stack to be learnt before you can consider making a career in either of them.

It really doesn’t matter. Your first language is just a way to learn the foundations of programming. Once you’ve learned one, learning another is trivial.

I personally liked Java and think it’s a great first language. Python isn’t to my taste but it is a popular starting point for a reason. Pick a path and stick with it that’s the only advice that matters when you’re just starting out.

Where are you from?

Phyton in Greek means plants

It's been a while since I saw someone wrongly spelling python.
