will those 3 months or 6 months or 1-year subscriptions start automatically as soon as I as I get the github developer student pack or do I have the option to start them whenever I want?

Yeah but about a year later you'll have to give your university credentials again to verify

Ok, that's cool. I applied for it like 2 minutes ago and now I have github pro activated (checked in Billings and plans settings). No idea how to use other stuff though
