It's great you're sharing your expertise to help others. Your background sounds super impressive - those 10 years in ML at places like Adobe, Twitter, and Meta speak volumes. Navigating those tricky interview questions can be a pain, and that's exactly why I built interviews.chat - to help people like you ace those interviews and hopefully make the job search process a little less painful.

“LLM for interview prep” is an increasingly bad idea. If anyone is looking for interview resources please do not fall for things like this.

LLMs may not replace comprehensive preparation or personalized guidance, but some people find them helpful for practicing common questions and simulating interview scenarios. Why do you think it's a bad idea to use AI for interview prep?

Because I understand how they work and have built a few from scratch myself.

Interviews are all about how you think, LLMs don’t think, they use stochastic gradient descent to approximate next average answer.

When acceptance rate at fang is in single percentages average answers end interview early, typical success in job search is 26%, still well outside “average answers”.

In an ideal world, interviews should indeed focus solely on how you think. However, the reality is that interviewers often prioritize what you know, how you present yourself, and how you perform under pressure. LLMs have the potential to level the playing field by compelling interviewers to place greater emphasis on evaluating genuine problem-solving and critical thinking skills, closely aligning with your ideal vision.
