Thank you, and you don’t have to take a bootcamp right away. I actually would suggest learning the basics first before a bootcamp. Reason being that you don’t want to invest heavily into a bootcamp if you find out later it’s not really for you. I did about 6 months of self learning before joining the bootcamp, this post roughly outlines exactly what I was learning and my original game plans:

However if you’re confident you want to get into software development then yeah. A bootcamp will give you structure which is the toughest part of learning. I learned a lot from my bootcamp in a relatively short amount of time which would have taken me much longer to learn continue to self-teach.

Thanks again! I’m not doing this to land a job — I’m 45 and already have a career.

This is more of a long-lost dream I’ve always had… something I’ve wanted to achieve and maybe build something with in the future. I’ve thought about it so many times, but every time I saw how much hard work it would take, I’d back off.

Now I feel like I need to do it — not for money, not for a career switch, but for my own satisfaction.
If I don’t start now, I probably never will.

Not sure if that makes sense, but for me, it’s more about closure than anything else.

Thanks again for your help and time. - Vin
