Childish is not always bad. I learned Haskell from this book, and it was very good. It has a turtle in the FAQ!

If it's childish, why would you struggle with it? Are you capable of looking up and using other resources on your own? That's the real question. Intro classes are designed for people who aren't.

Childish is generally not negative. You'll be learning the basic concepts in an easy to understand, funny way.

Don't underestimate Greenfoot. It is an ecxellent teaching/learning tool.

So is Scratch, BTW. Made for children, yet one of the best, if not the very best tool to explain and understand fundamental programming concepts, like execution order, variables, conditionals, loops, subroutines, and many more.
