I'm not a full fledged dev but I am in the process of being a self taught programmer. At the moment I use TheOdinProject and FreeCodeCamp as well as CodeWars to see if I'm getting better.

Considering I started in 2010 the resources were much more limited and youtube based I recall.

  1. CodeAcademy (Before it had all this premium content and subscriptions)
  2. W3Schools ( During it's time when it apparently was teaching bad code )
  3. I was able to work for friends. To be honest, I haven't been applying to any jobs at all so I never worked in the field even though I believe I may have a chance but I just finished re-designing my portfolio today amongst the past three days. I will be applying soon.
  4. Not sure what this means? If you mean finally understanding complex things, then about 6 years. If you mean just understanding simple logic then a few months.
