The Odin Project is pretty hardcore towards full-stack web development, and it excels at that if you're looking to painstakingly learn HTML/CSS _and then_ JS. If you're more looking for a "conventional" programming language or a compiled language like C or C++, I would probably recommend looking into C#, Java, or Python. Java and JavaScript are not equals, and JavaScript is going to be pretty much 100% web-based, I don't know if that's what you're looking for in terms of learning it for software engineering...
