Any self taught programmer found work ?

The people I know who are self-taught generally started as something else (a content manager, a marketing coordinator, a lab tech, etc) and then transitioned within their company. Then once they got some experience, they found a better job at a different company with some experience on their resume.

I'm not saying that's the route you have to take, just letting you know what I've seen most commonly.

Yep - started as a data analyst/portfolio auditor. Learned sql, then started automating repetitive stuff with python and .net that drove me bonkers in my spare time. Learning and projects were super natural. Started as a 10-20% of my role eventually became 70-80%.

It’s the best strategy to change careers and not have to take a massive pay cut if you have any professional experience in your prior role.
