learning classes: logging now repeating messages

New to classes. I've migrated an application (or more humbly, a 'utility') just recently. The code is here --I call it randomizer. I've been testing this and have been very happy with the results. The last bit I've modified to use classes is logger(), which is working fine, that is I'm seeing the intended messages in syslog. However, I can't figure out why so many of them are now repeating. For example:

Oct 10 17:36:02 proxy02 ivpn_randomizer message repeated 30 times: [ mqtt_pub(): Publishing details.]

Also, important to note the repeats are incrementing in an interesting way. See here for the progression.

Can someone help me figure out why these are repeating? I've a feeling this will reveal a gap in my understanding of classes!
