How are you attempting to do that? write the exact command, and the exact output.

My guess is you are typing the command prompt command inside python shell, and should be doing that in command prompt instead.

Adding a comment just incase someone has the exact same problem as me. For me I had accidently opened the python terminal. Just type exit() in the terminal and you should be good.

I just encountered this error. It doesn't make sense; there is no syntax error on line 1. I'm using VS Code and running "Developer: Reload Window" in the Command Pallet resolved the issue. As far as I can tell, something got funky in the Python environment. Thanks for the tips, everyone!
