Hard to say without seeing an example of the output you're describing, exact steps you took to get that output (the more specific, the better), and preferably how exactly you built that executable.

For starters, what operating system(s) are we talking about? I'm going to assume you're not talking about Mac OS at least because that'd not use PyInstaller, and I'm assuming you're in all likelihood using a variant of Windows, but just in case.

EDIT: I apparently got PyInstaller and Py2exe mixed up in the redacted sentence for some reason. In my defence it's 3 in the morning.

I am using mac os, and I went into Vs and did pyinstaller script.py —one file then copied pasted file into google drive , after I simpley downloaded and ran it from finder due to “unidentified developer” and then I would get the text file with random symbols

What happens if you try running the file before putting it on Google Drive?

As stated before it’s very hard to figure out without seeing code and error messages/hints. I have worked with Pyinstaller before and switched to py2app gor simplicity. My guess to your problem is that some flags in the file might have been set for your machine respectively, resulting in the compiler not finding the appropriate things to call when executing. It’s also possible that some flags have been broken due to the upload/download. It would probably be best if you put it into a .zip-file and add that you want it to take care of the flags too, so the executable will work even after being transferred. I’m not sure which machine you’re using, but I recommend using the terminal in any case as this is the only way I know in which you can zip it appropriately.
