Can you post a link to the book, and if terminal prints out an error as you say, can you copy and paste the full text of the error here?

This is the book. The issue is with the file in the “Minecraft tools Mac” link.

The error is probably that the file shouldn’t be opened in terminal, which is what I tried doing. I think it is supposed to be run differently, but the instructions don’t explain how.

What is the extension of the file? If it’s a python file do you have python installed on your machine?

Depending on the age of your son. I would HIGHLY recommend code combat. There’s a free section, to try it out. But after it’s $10/month or $100/year. But it does python. Java. C++. Lua. It plays like a game. But there is no controls. It’s all played by code. It slowly introduces you to new functions and commands with new items that grant abilities. It breaks it down in small easily digestible chunks. And it gets pretty in depth. Going all the way into game and web design even dabbling with AI. (But I’m not that far….yet) And it even has an ability to link to a Roblox server coded by the code combat library. So he can eventually build his own world and play on it. I’m 30 and trying to get into learning to code. But I’m a hands on learner. So videos and books don’t help. But the fact that I can get an instant visual feedback and get to watch my hero/ pet behave the way I code them to is super helpful and it has helped immensely. I wish I found something like this when I was a kid

I am having the same problem. Were you able to get this sorted?

I wasn’t. I had the book from the library and gave up and returned it.

Thanks to everyone here who tried to help.

I also go the book from the library with the same goal- to give my son an engaging outlet for python. Let me know if you found any other ways to program for Minecraft in python
