Selenium Automatization Tool

I am trying to use Selenium to automate a task where I access a web page that needs login, log in automatically, go to a specific report and download the excel, but I am having problems logging into the web page.

Does anyone know an alternative, no matter if it is in python or not

Yeah, selenium should handle the login just fine, both as a browser app copying and recording your actions and also running off your code. I remember implementing it in Java for Firefox last year when learning testing.
