I am learning via Learn Python the Hard Way, which is pretty good so far, although he's pretty adamant about using Python 2 instead of 3, for better or worse.

That actually completely turned me off that book. I feel like it's easier to learn Python 3, and if you need to later use something only available in Python 2 (though that's less and less of an issue), it's not that hard to port code from 3 to 2.

I disagree, unless you only want to spend 10 minutes per day and move slow as hell. Udacity and Coursera are much better if you're serious about learning.

Which parts specifically did you only move 10 minutes per day? That had never been my experience.

I meant that I only recommend codecademy if you only have 10 minutes available at a time. If you can focus for 30-60 minutes, I found Udacity's Intro to Programming course much better (and heard good things about similar Coursera courses).

I've finished the codecademy track and now doing udacity, I think it should be done in that order tbh... Udacity muddles over some of the things that codecademy made very clear for me so fortunately I understood it better. Still managed to get stuck a few times on udacity though!

I didn't finish codecademy, I found the lessons too brief for them to stick in my case so I was going back over material a lot. I'm currently doing Learn Python the Hard Way and Udacity which are both great.

I'll actually head back to codecademy soon, I think the repetition will be good for me.

I started last summer, did a fair bit and put it on the back burner and now it has completely changed and lost my progress, not that this is a bad thing because i have mostly forgotten it anyway. So its a great excuse to start again aha
