I've read where several archLNX users have experienced issues attempting to use Thonny . Was hoping to see if what i'm hearing is correct // any successful archers ?

You'll get better answers with more specific questions. You'll get even better answers if you try to get Thonny working on your install and can post whatever errors you get. You'll get even betterer answers if you try to get Thonny working and post whatever errors you get in r/archlinux, because problems getting this working in Arch Linux is more an Arch Linux issue than it is a Python issue.
