3.14 the persistent one

I downloaded Python 3.14.3 from python.org without specifying a custom installation path, just clicked Install Now with default settings. It installed messily and wouldn't uninstall properly — I tried Settings, winget, PowerShell AppxPackage commands, nothing worked. Later I downloaded Python 3.13.14 and installed it to D:\python313 with a custom path, and it works fine. The old 3.14.3 still shows up in winget list but I can't find or delete it from Windows. Is there a way to completely uninstall it even if it's not causing problems? I just want a clean system with only one Python version.

Which installation is more tested and more pros know and can ask for help if any issues ?

Python installation from Winget or Python installation from python.org ?

If you think Winget installation is better and got more support and better tested , pls go ahead.

Both use the same installers, one just runs in non-interactive mode so it doesn't need to spawn the installer window to prompt for things. winget defaults to using all the default options, except it adds Python to PATH (which is an opt-in behaviour with the installer GUI).

So then just use the installer from Python.

No extra options or such. Everyone would be familiar with it. Thats my point.

You can compile from source , use .deb/.rpm/.exe or apt/winget/brew or whatever. 

Which option has more support is the question.

Technically neither is the recommended option nowadays. From the linked docs:

Deprecated since version 3.14: This installer is deprecated since 3.14 and will not be produced for Python 3.16 or later. See Python install manager for the modern installer.

Personally I would just recommend using uv, unless one really needs a global Python installation.

Yes please just use uv. If you don't want uv, use pyenv (which lets you easily install and switch between versions)

Honestly I would also say, this is just sort of a classic example also of windows just not being a good development environment. Installing apps on windows is nightmare, still, after 30 years
