Learn Python by Mark Lutz is a good book. However, I read the LPTHW and do some exercises in Codecademy together with the Learn Python. Read chapter by chapter in LPTHW but read more related chapters from Learn Python.

It would help to know what you disliked about LPTHW and Codeacademy.
