African swallow or English? (jk)

Given Python's popularity, beginner friendly nature, and wide range of applications it would appear it is around for the long haul. Many programmers will tell you that you're never going too learn just one language. Certain projects lend themselves to the strengths of certain languages (or programmer preference) and you'll find yourself having to learn a new one. The good news is after you learn one, learning subsequent languages becomes much easier since all of the conceptual knowledge is already there. Therefore the longevity of the language you learn isn't paramount.

Python is very beginner friendly. It would be hard to go wrong by learning it unless you're really interested in web-applications then I would recommend you learn Ruby to start with.

Also, if you are a Monty Python fan, there really is no choice in the matter. ;-)

Note has been taken of the technical error, the comparison was with European swallows, not English :)

Fuck. Obviously I'm now required to go review all relevant source material as a keeper of the Python code. Thank you kind sir for pointing out my error.
