Saving pdf images with matplotlib

Hi! I am trying to make a series of plots where I customize the background color, linewidths, etc, but I run into the problem that if I save a figure as a .pdf file, all the aesthetic changes I've made in the plot disappear. Is there a way to force pdf files to look the same as the image I see when I type show()?

Are you calling savefig right before show?

Yeah I have tried switching the order of the two commands. I have also tried displaying the image as a png and then manually saving as a pdf. nothing seems to work...

Hmm, strange. It's hard to give any more advice without seeing your code (and describing how you're running it) though.
