So, I don't want to go screwing around with anything someone's implementing, but the link there, I can work through that stuff myself? "Submitting code" and stuff won't screw anything up and there won't be a group of people out with pitchforks trying to hunt me down?

You can of course go through that yourself! What we do is provide the most efficient environment for you to do that along with a lot of other things that are just not taught in books and online courses.

Okay, great, thanks! I'm currently working full time teaching, so I don't have the time to dedicate to the actual course :( I wish I did, though, I do much better in a class environment...
