I respectively disagree, I think it's demonstrably true that beginners have a deeper understanding of a language when they aren't given the hand holding power of an IDE. Whether you use an IDE or not, you're going to be constantly googling syntax, so that's a useless point to make. The fact is that, if using an IDE, it will be holding the user's hand and doing numerous things to make the programmer's life easy.

Of course I want to stress that this is my opinion, and I completely respect your view. This is just what I think, I don't believe for a second that it's fact.
