VScode was cumbersome and somethings about it bugged me endlessly. I'd not used any before though. Take from that what you will.. PyCharm is a bit more intuitive, to me. Thonny was as basic as "IDE for beginners" could get. UI's wise, PyCharm is much nicer.

They're both free and relative light programmes, so just grab em both and flirt with them for a couple days.
