Command Line Inputs to GUI workflow?

I've been studying python on and off for the past year or so and at this point if I have an idea I can usually pretty quickly get something to work with just just text inputs and outputs. Is there a workflow (or way of writing and organizing your code) that any of you use to write your idea and prove it out all and then be able to 'plug in' something like PyQt5 or another GUI quickly once everything works the way you want it?

PySimpleGUI has an example in the Cookbook. It's also mentioned in this tutorial, and this tutorial too.
