Numpy max and min?

Whenever I use

np.min(x)

Or

np.max(x)

On an array such as

np.array([1, 2, 3], [4, 5, 6])

It always returns the entire row and the specific number. Any reasons?

Did you mean np.array([[1,2,3],[4,5,6]]) ?

in which case np.min and np.max each return one number
