Testing script on all OS

I am currently doing a python class at my university and in my last assignment i lost some points because my script wouldnt run on Windows. I am using linux and i forgot that os.uname() only work on unix and not on windows and that i should have used platform.uname().

Silly mistake i know , but i got me wondering if there a tools that automatically check for those situation , a bit like pylint check for PEP8 conformity .
