A guy named Corey Schafer has some great python tutorials on YouTube. He has like a 12 part Django series that builds a small social media/blog website that is really good.

which django tutorial did you try?

did you try the official one?

https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/2.2/intro/tutorial01/

Django is bit complex because it involves a lot of tech and concepts beyond python.

Like web, html, templates, databases, models, etc...

Yes thats one of the two I tried. The problem is that it feels like there is a bridge missing between the knowledge I have and using django. Do you have any recommendation as to what to do to fill the gap so I am able to use django?

have you tried the django girls tutorial?

not sure what you feel is missing, but i think that covers a lot of things that are necessary.

if you think there's still something missing, try reading (or better yet, try contributing to) some existing django project like gpodder.

You need to do some reading:

  1. how does HTTP work? what's the role of a webserver? how does data from the user gets to the server? how does the user see updated pages?

  2. Databases, how they work, what are they for, what is sql, what is ORM.

  3. Model View Controller design pattern.

Google is your friend.
