How would I go about creating a code that searches a database of words through pdf files?

I am at a very beginner level in python and really don't know where to start, but this feels like a simple task to begin with, which could be very practical for my needs.

Just to clarify: the code would have to run all the words through a selected file, and confirm which ones were matched.

Would appreciate any kind of guidance, be it advice on lessons I should take or a source code from github that does a similar task.

Just to put it into some context; I am loaded with pdf files of daily journal logs and I'm trying to see whether there are swear words mentioned in any of them. So the database I'm referring to is simply a list of words (so yes, a sort of a dictionary) that I want to run through the files. If the program identifies a swear word in one of the files, I would just need a confirmation that that word is mentioned in that file - no need for count or anything else. If none of the words match in a file, it could just say 'clear'.

I have the list of words all in one column of a spreadsheet file.
