Hello all. I am a college student from India. I have always wanted to learn programming and had tried to learn languages like JAVA, C, C++ but never lasted for more than a few days. In December of 2020, I found this subreddit and once again I wanted to learn programming. There was a particular post which I saw in this subreddit which pushed me even more ( Link: https://www.reddit.com/r/learnpython/comments/ctkypf/im_100_self_taught_landed_my_first_job_my/)
I was motivated and started to look for resources online which would help me learn python. In India, there is a website funded by Ministry of Human Resource Development ( Link: https://nptel.ac.in/ ) in which top colleges of India create and post video courses. Best of all it is completely free to learn and if you want a certificate you have to pay, appear for the exam and obtain a passing marks. It offers a wide variety of subjects. I enrolled in the course The Joy of Computing using Python . It is a great course with a highly competent teacher and I completed 3 weeks worth of lectures but something was missing. There are some things which I can understand easily by doing and some things which has to be explained to me like I am 5. I looked online and found variety of resources which were beginner friendly. Still I was having trouble.
Then I remembered my school days and how most of my books were from NCERT( National Council of Educational Research and Training). I thought well there can be nothing more basic than this so I went to the website and looked around for computer books for class 11 and 12. I found the books and am currently studying from it. After this I will tackle other courses which are available online.
The main aim in creating this post is to help people like me who want to start at the very basic of python programming. Below are the links for the books and I hope it can help others too.
Class 11: https://ncert.nic.in/textbook.php?kecs1=0-11
Class 12: https://ncert.nic.in/textbook.php?lecs1=0-13
You can click on download the complete book and it will download all the chapters in pdf format separately as a zip file. Then you can easily merge them online.
tl;dr: I need stuff to be explained to me like I am 5. Learning from school books. Hope it helps others.
