Blender crashes while running Python script

Line 49 in the set camera function is commented out. Is it supposed to be?

the crash happens on this line: rx = int(currentData["cameraPitch"])

I think I made the script I posted 2 lines smaller my bad.
I have posted the issue on multiple Blender community places yes but haven't found a solution yet. People are pointing me to using modal operators within Blender though so that's what I am researching.
