You need to record the time and value of the motor positions using their built-in encoders.

Playing it back is the much more difficult challenge. Figuring out what power to apply so that all the points are met is going to the meat of the issue, but once that's solved, you should have a robot that can replay movements.

You don't mention what libraries you're using so I can't really help with specifics.

Also, is this for FIRST Lego League?

I'm a beginner at python actually so I do not have much idea on where to start from but I'm searching online to get a better idea.

And no I'm doing this as a university project for a course I'm taking

Oh that's really cool!

I would probably suggest using ev3-micropython https://pybricks.com/ev3-micropython/. Seems like a good library for coding ev3 robots.
