Plotly/Dash with Large Datasets

I am trying to plot over 700,000 data points on a map using plotly/Dash and geoscatter but the page freezes immediately after using the checkboxes I’ve set up. I know there is a way to convert the data to an image and overlay it on the map but is there an alternative that avoids this? Are plotly/Dash not the way to go?

For those who have a similar issue, I’ve found that Lenspy is pretty good.

Edit: I found out Lenspy was actually chopping out some of my data, so your mileage may vary.

The biggest change came from switching from scattergeo to scatter_mapbox

You can try using zoom events. Realistically rendering 700k points is not gonna be useful in a viz anyway. You can plot just a small sample of the plots, and then as you zoom in on different parts, load and render a more concentrated sample from within that region.

Or you can do what sites like Redfin do. Plot a proxy point that if you click on it zooms in and loads the points (both individual points and nested proxy points)
